Categories
These labels avoid pretending that sketches are finished tracks. They describe what the audio is useful for.
Long-form takes
Extended recordings that preserve progression, hesitation, repetition, and structure.
Archive takes
Earlier recordings retained as part of the versioned audio history.
Signal notes
Practical metadata: duration, sample rate, bit depth, peak, RMS, and crest factor.
Track lab
Search, filter, listen, and draw a waveform only when needed. MP3 plays first when available; WAV remains the archive source.
Music tech
A single interactive branch from the archive. The music page stays for listening; the guitar demo stays for hands-on sound exploration.

How this page treats imperfect recordings
- Archive first: WAV files remain available because they are the most useful source artefacts.
- Web playback second: MP3 files are used where available because browsers stream them more efficiently.
- Technical notes matter: a near-clipping peak, low RMS level, or wide crest factor is not shameful. It is diagnostic information.
- Waveform on demand: audio is decoded only when the waveform button is clicked, keeping the page fast.
